Murder suspect apprehended
Toby James White, 31, was apprehended Saturday, Jan. 25. White was wanted for second-degree murder. The murder took place on Jan. 20 on Old Oak Road in Milton.
The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 22 issued a plea asking for the public’s help in locating White.

AFSOC accepts final MC-130J
Marietta, GA – Maj. Gen. Justin Hoffman, Deputy Commander of Air Force Special Operations Command, attended a delivery milestone on Dec 13, 2024, in Marietta, Georgia for the command’s final MC-130J Commando II. The fly-away ceremony commemorated the final stage of Lockheed Martin’s aircraft production for the MC-130J program and last handover to the Air Force.

Eglin, Hurlburt rivalry ignites in B-ball battle
Hurlburt Field – Hurlburt Field cagers knocked down 16 free throws in the fourth quarter Jan. 10 to top Eglin 76-68 in men’s basketball action in Aderholt Fitness Center.
The Gulf Coast rivalry game tipped off a weekend tournament where four military squads clashed, including teams from Fort Knox, Kentucky, and Scott AFB, Illinois. The loss was Eglin’s only blemish in a three-game Military Basketball Association round-robin schedule.

Milton City Council makes cuts to state appropriation requests
The Milton City Council has been tasked with cutting their state appropriation requests down to three in response to Sen. Don Gaetz’s remarks at the Jan. 9 delegation meeting.
Gaetz announced that funding for previous projects that were approved are likely to be rejected in 2025 because loans that were granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic have run dry.

A HOPE Spay and Neuter Clinic to open for kitten season
A new spay and neuter clinic will open in Milton after seven years of transporting cats and dogs to Panama City for affordable animal care.
Animal Health Outreach Prevention Education, also known as A HOPE, is a local animal outreach that helps provide spay and neuter services to homed or stray cats and dogs in Santa Rosa County. A HOPE Vice President Paige Cary said they will be opening a local clinic just in time for kitten season, when feline breeding is at its peak in early spring to late summer.
