Softball season ends in heartbreak for Pace

No words can describe the heartbreak the Pace softball players were experiencing Friday after a gut-wrenching end to a special season here in a 6A state semifinal at the Legends Way Ball Fields in Clermont.

BISSELL Pet Foundation announces “Empty the Shelters” Florida emergency adoption event

BISSELL Pet Foundation is hosting a statewide emergency relief “Empty the Shelters” adoption event from Feb. 24-28, 2022. This event is a collaborative effort to support Florida shelters by finding loving homes for pets and providing relief to shelters assisting Santa Rosa County Animal Services after an intake of more than 70 dogs from a large-scale neglect case.

BISSELL Pet Foundation will sponsor reduced adoption fees for $25 or less for cats and dogs. This emergency event will be hosted in more than 12 shelters throughout Florida. The Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) Shelter is also participating.

County’s bloodhound pups find new homes, jobs

Of the 11 puppies that Copper, Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office star bloodhound gave birth to Oct. 28, just two have not been claimed. e, Nassau, Jackson, Bay, Hardee and Brevard counties each accepted a puppy from the SRSO. Jacksonville Police Department took one and the SRSO kept one to train.

Area teams ranked in the region

The latest regional rankings are out in the various winter sports as hopes remain intact for area teams to reach the postseason.

The top eight teams at the end of the year make the regional, with the four district champions earning an automatic berth.
