Tensions were high at the April 8 Milton City Council meeting after they received another delay in their wastewater treatment plant. On March 27, the county tabled the city’s request for a conditional use permit for the city’s planned wastewater treatment plant. The city is trying to fast-track this project, but now they have hit another proverbial bump in the road.
Today, the Pace Library celebrated the grand opening of its new meeting room with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, joined by the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners, county staff, the Friends of the Pace Library, and members of the community. The new space is located at 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd., in Pace.
Two proclamations were made at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on April 7. The National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW) and the National Donate Life Month.
On April 2, the City of Milton and Naval Air Station (NAS) Whiting Field united to recognize Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAM) by dyeing the City’s downtown fountain teal.
On March 18, Santa Rosa County received its first letter from DOGE. Commissioner Colten Wright said he welcomes a review of the county’s finances. But he also pointed out that other state departments are not persecuted like the county and city boards are.
On March 27, Santa Rosa County presented a check to the cold weather shelter, Ferris Hill Baptist Church, after a successful annual employee chili cookoff event.
