The community drive-through food distribution event on Dec. 2 provided hundreds of families with free food. Last year 10,000 pounds of food was donated within one hour, this year both of those figures doubled.
District 3 Commissioner Rhett Rowell and District 1 Commissioner Bobby Burkett drew a large crowd at the clerk of courts on Nov. 19 for their swearing in ceremony.
Schoolboard officials were voted in by the citizens of Santa Rosa County, but the job does not end with elections. In fact, they are just getting started.
“The fact that people are ready for change, and they knew the experience I had with the county, felt like I could make changes and so do I,” Burkett said.
Residents spent the first four hours of Thursday morning’s Santa Rosa County Commission meeting speaking out against a conceptual route that would extend the Pea Ridge Connector through farmland to connect to Berryhill Road.
