Sheriff: Cosse’s Place owner sold stolen John Deere equipment

The owner of a popular Milton restaurant found himself behind bars after being arrested for allegedly selling stolen John Deere equipment in Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Matas “Mike” Bernard Cosse, 52, who owns Cosse’s Place (5365 Stewart St.), is charged with six counts of public order crimes, six counts of forgery, five counts of dealing in stolen property, one count of fraud or swindle and one count of larceny.

Fatal crash on Munson Highway leads to DUI manslaughter arrest

A traffic crash at County Road 191 (Munson Highway) and Lawler Lane in Milton led to the death of a 22-year-old Milton man Saturday, Oct. 28. Christopher Ammons, 49, the driver of a pickup truck, which collided with the 22-year old’s vehicle, has since been arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter.

A federal fugitive is behind bars in Santa Rosa County after an Aug. 24 traffic stop uncovered cocaine and other drugs in the vehicle near Garcon Point Road and Interstate 10.

Fentanyl, weapons seized on Pine Ridge Drive in Milton

The Aug. 22 serving of a search warrant in Milton uncovered approximately 3,500 pills of fentanyl. According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, 3,500 pills of fentanyl with a street value upwards of $40,000.

Nikko’s Japanese Steakhouse investigation closes, no one charged

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday, June 20, they would not seek charges in the case involving Nikko’s Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar in Pace. The case stems from a June 9 incident when seven people fell ill after eating at Nikko’s. Sheriff’s Office deputies first became aware of the situation June 10, when they responded to a police assist call at Santa Rosa Hospital.

A man was shot and killed while driving last night in Pace. According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the agency received reports of a shooting that had occurred in the area of Wallace Lake Road off Quintette Road in Pace.

Rebekah Jones’ son arrested after alleged school threats

The teenage son of Rebekah Jones, a data analyst and former Democratic Party candidate for U.S. House, has been charged with intimidation, a second-degree felony. Jackson Jones, 13, was arrested for allegedly threatening to conduct a mass shooting at Holley Navarre Middle School, where he was previously a student. The threats first came to the attention of Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office March 20, when an East Bay K8 student told school officials about a school shooting threat she saw on social media.

Milton man arrested for DUI after crashing car at Sheriff’s Office

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputies didn’t have to travel far to arrest someone this morning when a Milton man overturned his vehicle at the agency’s main office on East Milton Road Friday, March 31. Timothy Michael Wright, 24, of Milton, was arrested and charged with DUI after his car crashed into a tree and overturned. According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, FHP responded to a single vehicle crash at 1:34 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Office.

Arrest made in Milton High ‘swatting’ case

At a news conference Monday, March 6, Sheriff Bob Johnson announced an arrest in a swatting case related to a gun threat was called into Milton High School last year. Brad Parga, 17, of Guttenberg, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with felony fraud for a false report of using firearms in a violent manner and disturbing the peace by interfering with school administration functions, which is a misdemeanor.
