On July 2, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7900 block of Kamie Court in Milton after reports of shots fired.

Rayvaughn L. Andrews, 41, of Pensacola, Florida, pled guilty in federal court to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine and money laundering offenses. The plea was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

On June 14 Milton resident Rickey Petitt was arrested on charges of False imprisonment and Battery.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service on June 4 reporting an alleged kidnapping/false imprisonment that took place in their jurisdiction.

June 23, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier joined the U.S. Marshal for the Central District of Florida William Berger to announce the rescue of 60 children as part of Operation Dragon Eye in the Tampa Bay Area. As a result of the multiagency operation, eight defendants were arrested, including one on charges of human trafficking.

The Milton Police Department has arrested 22-year-old Mohamed Bakayoko in connection with a large-scale fraud investigation that resulted in the theft of $852,983.06 from the Santa Rosa County Clerk of Court & Comptroller. Bakayoko has been charged with grand theft, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 30 years in state prison.

A Milton man will spend the next 15 years of his life behind bars.

Aaron Eichman was sentenced by Circuit Judge Edward Nickinson III, to 15 years in state prison for Aggravated Battery. The news was announced May 21 by Ginger Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Martin Luther King Middle School teacher Johnathan Burchett was arrested May 15 and charged with 24 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material. A press conference was held the following day at Milton City Hall.

Six years after being sentenced to life for second-degree murder, a Milton woman is now seeking to overturn the life sentence.

Melissa Blair Pocopanni was convicted of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, and principal armed robbery in November 2018 and sentenced in January 2019.

Pace Pharmacy pharmacists Stephen Allen Burklow and David Barron Winkles, and the pharmacy office manager Monique Burklow, were arrested on May 14. The three were charged with conspiring to traffic prescription drugs.
