Ashley Pickard is excited about the chance to play softball at the college level.
And that excitement was evident when the Pace Patriot standout signed her letter of intent last Wednesday in the high school media center.

In just one season playing at Pace High School, Noah Hamlin made quite an impression.
The ‘Swiss-Army knife” as his head coach Vance Smith referred to him due to his versatility,  was a leader on and off the field in a 10-win season for the Patriots.

Central’s girls weightlifting team competed at the Navarre Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The Jaguars took part in a highly competitive meet and fared well against the competition.

Pace’s girls weightlifting team dominated the Navarre Invitational Dec. 12.
That is to be expected for a team that has won the last three FHSAA 3A traditional state titles as well as the last two Olympic crowns.

Rivalry games are supposed to feature big shots, intensity and all-out effort.
And the game between Pace and Milton in girls basketball on Friday night had all of that on display and more.

Milton’s matchup with Tate in boys basketball on Thursday turned out to live up to the hype. Visiting Milton got the early jump, closing out the opening period up 26-6. Things looked bleak for the home team as the Panthers continued their dominance with a 24-point lead at halftime.

Pace’s boys basketball team was within striking distance of a win over Navarre last Tuesday night, closing the gap to single digits late in the fourth.
But a few plays didn’t go the Patriots’ way in a 54-44 loss as Pace lost its fourth game by 10 points or less.

Milton’s girls soccer team has hit a few bumps along the way this season, but the Panthers have stayed on course and are closing in on a strong finish to 2025.
With wins in their last three games, including an impressive 1-0 victory over Tate on Dec. 2 — their first over the Aggies in six years — the Panthers have momentum on their side.

Tuesday’s win was the sixth in a row for Pace (6-2). Head coach Nick Williamson is impressed with what the team has done lately.

Red and black cupcakes sat on a table inside Pace High School’s media center.
Even balloons with the official colors of the Arkansas State University Red Wolves  floated in the air. Many in attendance were clad in the same color clothing, expecting Mason Mathis to sign with the school.
