The sixth week of the high school football season is history and it’s time to look back at how last week played out for area teams.

The Pace Patriots didn’t waste much time setting the tone for a big win in their District 1-5A opener.

They scored 21 points in the opening quarter and went on to win 41-27 at Mickey Lindsey Field last Friday night.

The undefeated Jay Royals crushed Bozeman in decisive fashion on Friday with a decisive 43-0 homecoming win at a packed Merle V. North Stadium.

It’s the second shutout in five games for the Royals (5-0).

Central’s football team went into halftime against Samson on Friday night with the score tied.

But the Jaguars couldn’t grab the advantage in the second half as they lost 16-6 to the Tigers at home.

Milton’s football team knew it would have its hands full against Choctaw in a District 1-4A showdown at Hurley Manning Field.

The Indians are a top 10 team in 4A. A state championship contender.

Avery McBride had big shoes to fill last season in flag football at Pace. She was, after all, replacing Amaya Pablo, one of the best all-time in the sport at the high school level, throwing for over 16,000 yards in four years.

Milton’s volleyball team didn’t give up when it trailed two sets to none in a road match against Navarre on Thursday night.

It would have been easy to do it. The Panthers lost 25-17 in the first set but had a 20-8 lead in the second set before the Raiders rallied to steal a 26-24 win.

The Florida High School Athletic Association regional rankings look a little different this year.
