Ryan Hunt didn’t seem to be on track to one day play college football when he first started out in high school at Milton.
He’s come a long way and is bound for Middle Tennessee State this fall to play offensive line for the Blue Raiders.

Milton golfers Kayla Willis and Gabi Wright spent their summer on courses around the area while playing in the Great Pensacola Junior Golf Association Tour.

Matt Wood excited about new role as Milton’s softball coach
Matt Wood is the fourth softball coach Milton has had in the last four seasons and he’s hoping to bring stability to the program.
Here on a hot summer morning at the softball field, Wood is working with players on fielding drills. He’s taken a few days in early July to work with the team. To get to know them a little bit and lay the foundation for the spring of 2024.

Jay grad headed to U.S. Women’s Open
Former Jay athlete Sarah Edwards will make her U.S. Women’s Open debut this week at Pebble Beach.
Edwards secured a spot in the LPGA event by winning a qualifier in Atlanta in May. She shot a seven-under par 137 over the two days that she competed to punch her ticket to the Open, which runs July 6-9 in California.

Albury named head baseball coach, AD at Lighthouse Private Christian College
Wayne Albury is entering a build-it-from-ground-up type of situation as the new athletic director and baseball coach at Lighthouse Private Christian College.
He’ll officially take on both roles in August, and for Albury, being part of a new program isn’t new.

Competitive summer volleyball workouts roll on for Pace
Kinsley Hines has been playing volleyball since third grade and has seen her passion for the sport grow. As well as her skill. Hines, after all, dished out 600 assists last season for the Patriots.
“I just love the sport. It’s fun because it’s so competitive, and there is always that challenge to get better,” Hines said.

NFL legend Derrick Brooks hosting golf tourney
Former NFL star Derrick Brooks is hosting a golf tournament at the Pensacola Country Club Aug. 14.
The 11-time Pro Bowler who helped the Tampa Bay Bucs win a Super Bowl in 2003 is hosting the tournament in an effort to raise money for Derrick Brooks Charities of Northwest Florida.
