Volleyball teams in the area begin district tournament play next week and a lot is at stake as winners receive an automatic bid to the regional.

We are getting an early start to week eight of the high school football season as Milton and Gulf Breeze square off tonight.


Pace and Jay both have games Friday night. Central has a bye.

Emma Messer, thankful to be playing volleyball again this season, was hoping to help lead Milton to a win Tuesday night against Pensacola in the team’s final home match.


While victory wasn’t in the cards, the effort was undeniable.

It always means a little more when Jay and Central play in volleyball.


And after having to reschedule this match due to only having one official, the Royals and Jaguars squared off Monday night in Allentown.

The second annual Amy Wolfenden Invitational took place on Oct. 4 at the University of West Florida Aquatic Center.


Navarre, Pace, Milton and Crestview were among the teams at the meet.

Central’s Katelyn and Emily Will were among the top runners at the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday on the campus of the University of West Florida.

Pace has moved up to third in the latest FHSAA regional football rankings in 6A and Milton is fourth in 5A. Baker is also in the mix for a postseason berth the Rural classification.

Less than a week remains until district tournament play begins and several area teams are in the mix for a postseason berth.


Jay is ranked second in Rural in the latest FHSAA regional rankings while Baker is fourth. Pace, winners of 12 in a row, is eighth in Region 1-6A.

Marcus Stokes threw for four touchdowns and helped lead the University of West Florida to a 31-24 win over Northeastern State Saturday in Oklahoma.

Nothing came easy, but the Pace Patriots kept their win streak intact with a big win over Madison County Friday night.


Pace rallied for a 20-18 victory after Brooks Washington found room to run and scored as the Patriots knocked off the Cowboys.
