District tournaments for softball start next week and a lot is on the line for the area teams involved.

Pace’s beach volleyball team wrapped up its third season on Wednesday, falling to reigning state champion Gulf Breeze in the District 1-2A tournament.

One night after scoring only one run in a 1-0 win over West Florida Tech, Gracie Ueberroth made sure Pace’s softball team got rolling early in a regular season finale against Navarre.

A girl at the score table kept calling out weight totals for lift attempts. Josh Stillings patiently waited, pacing a bit, until he heard the number he wanted.


A total of 445 lbs. was on the bar here at the District 1-3A meet in Pace earlier this month and the Milton senior made the lift look easy.

Once 2-4, Pace’s flag football team is headed to another district championship game.


And the Patriots have a shot at a 3-peat on Thursday night when they take on Niceville in the District 1-3A final at Eagle Stadium. Game time is 6 p.m.

What you probably know about Tanner Martinez is that he is a pretty good weightlifter for the Jay Royals.

But the Royals’ bid for a third consecutive district championship ended in the seventh, their dream dashed in a 2-1 loss.
