I am not often led to comment publicly on events of the day. But the recent “Clown Show”, i.e. Milton Council, should be an embarrassment to anybody with half a brain:

We ran this editorial in our March 17, 2022, issue shortly after purchasing the Santa Rosa Press Gazette, and it is a message that needs to be told again. With all the city and county messes happening in Santa Rosa County, you can be assured we will be there for the good and the bad.

Miracles aren’t just something reserved for religion. They are a real thing in sports, whether you choose to believe that or not. We might not be talking miracles on the level of Jesus turning water into wine or raising Lazarus from the dead, but miracles are as real as this column in the sports world.

So much is made of being the best athlete. Of being the best scorer, the best quarterback, the best hitter, the best golfer. And look, sports stars are great. They are entertaining to watch because of what they can do in their particular sport.

Using statistics from the Department of Labor, The Wall Street Journal reports that real hourly wages during the Biden presidency have declined. When Joe Biden took office in January 2021, the average hourly wage adjusted for inflation was $11.39. Now, 29 months later, it stands at $11.03, a 3.16% decline.

I’ve been mostly out this week and about in other parts of Florida. Sarasota to be specific. We brought seven of us to the Florida Press Conference to learn the latest trends and best practices in journalism and design. We also had our awards ceremony, and while Navarre Press didn’t win the overall trophy for our division, Santa Rosa Press Gazette did.

High school coaches don’t have it easy. Most of them try to do the best job that they can, but often, they are in a no-win situation. I’m not saying coaches are perfect. They get things wrong. We all do. It’s called being human.
