New mural pays homage to Jay’s farming culture, much more
Mayor Shon Owens had a vision for a town mural in Jay for many years. Thanks to a collaboration with Jay High School Art Teacher Teresa Dobson, that vision became real with a large mural on Commerce Street.

In 2006, Staff Sergeant Daniel Gilyeat’s life changed in the blink of an eye.
Gilyeat was serving his second tour in Iraq, working to find and disarm bombs, when he was caught in the blast of an explosion. Ultimately, he lost his left leg, but it still could’ve been much worse.
