Former Farmer’s Opry House owner Sandy Wyatt dead at 71
Sandy Wyatt, who owned and operated the popular Farmer’s Opry House restaurant and country music venue in Chumuckla between 2001-2012, died Wednesday, Nov. 22. He was 71.

Committee orders operational audit of Milton
The Florida Joint Legislative Auditing Committee on Monday voted unanimously to order an organizational audit of the City of Milton, starting with, but not limited to, its water reclamation project.

Cold weather shelter open Wednesday, Dec. 6
The cold weather shelter for the homeless and/or heatless will open on the night of Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Ferris Hill Baptist Church, 6848 Chaffin St. in Milton. Those who would like to stay at the shelter must arrive between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Only service animals (with verification of rabies vaccination) are permitted to stay with guests. No one will be admitted after 8:30 p.m. unless brought in by law enforcement. The shelter closes at 7 a.m. each morning.

The Joint Legislative Auditing Committee will meet at 2:30 p.m. Central today in Tallahassee. It is expected to consider Florida Sen. Doug Broxson’s request for an operational audit of the City of Milton.

EOD career past, present, future
Eglin’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight hosted the Air Force’s first-ever EOD Heritage Panel Nov. 10, 2023.
The panel brought together career field managers to discuss the history, current state, and future of the EOD program. EOD has only had 10 total career field managers for the entire program, and this was the first opportunity to bring them all together, putting 270 years of EOD experience on one stage.
