On July 19, the city of Milton received word from the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation that the city’s wastewater treatment plant was not “legally” sufficient with the National Environmental Policy Act.

Byrd Mapoles, a former Santa Rosa County commissioner, and the former “flying” mayor of Milton, passed away on July 25.

Santa Rosa County residents are seeking justice for a dog who was shot by his owner.  

Three concerned individuals attended the Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners meeting on July 8 to voice their concerns about a dog named Roscoe that was shot in the head by his owner on March 20.

During Saturday’s budget workshop, the city of Milton briefly discussed planned road paving for the next fiscal year.

Monroe Street, Grace Street and Walton Street are listed as part of the road and street budget. Okaloosa Street and Quinn Street would be paid for through a CDBG grant funds.

Michael Stevens, a write-in candidate in the district 5 county commission seat, has withdrawn. Stevens announced his withdrawal in a letter dated July 22. In the letter, he endorsed current District 5 Commissioner Colten Wright for the seat.
