Santa Rosa County combat veteran gets a second chance at life and a new purpose

In 2006, Staff Sergeant Daniel Gilyeat’s life changed in the blink of an eye.

Gilyeat was serving his second tour in Iraq, working to find and disarm bombs, when he was caught in the blast of an explosion. Ultimately, he lost his left leg, but it still could’ve been much worse. After the explosion, while in transport by helicopter, Gilyeat died and was revived two times.

Plans submitted for new station for Berrydale Fire Department
