Mt. Pilgrim is a constant for Milton’s Black community

It’s impossible to discuss Milton’s history without mentioning – often – Mt. Pilgrim African Baptist Church. Its congregation traces its history to antebellum times, when Blacks – many likely enslaved people working on a nearby plantation – and whites worshipped together at First Baptist Church (founded in 1845).

L.E.A.D. Academy girls basketball team not backing down from a challenge

Head coach Kara Lay wasn’t quite sure how her players, mostly middle-school-aged, were going to respond to a 54-20 defeat at the hands of 1A Jay in early December, especially after the Lions had cruised past their first four opponents by 30 or more points. It didn’t take long to get an answer.

For God’s Sake: To live is Christ, and to die is gain

The debate whether to widen Caroline Street through Milton is over, or it should be. It should have ended in 2019, when the Florida Department of Transportation announced its preferred route to improve U.S. Highway 90 traffic flow through the city after a five-year project development and environment (PD&E) study.

Faithful fasting: local churches hold fasts during January

Every January, people make new year’s resolutions. For some, it’s exercising more. For others, it’s focusing on their mental health. And for members of local churches, like East Bay Church and Momentum Church, it’s about getting reacquainted in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Up until a minute left in the third quarter, Pace’s boys basketball team was on the cusp of taking control of its game against Crestview.
