Milton’s volleyball team won its first match of the year Thursday night, beating Escambia in three games.

Milton grad Corliss Waitman won the punting job for the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of the 2025 NFL season, earning a spot on the team’s 53-man roster.

Devin Wright and Ryan Hunt both played their high school football locally and now get a chance to do the same at the college level.


Wright has been with the Argos since graduating from Navarre in 2022. Hunt is a Milton alum and transferred in from Middle Tennessee State last season.

Jay’s volleyball team won in three games against Central Tuesday night.


Jay’s third sweep of the year was yet another strong performance, a 25-16, 25-20, 25-14 victory over Central, which had started the season with two wins. The Jaguars are now 2-2.

When Pace’s volleyball team played Navarre a year ago in a Region 1-6A quarterfinal, the match went five games.


It was a different outcome this time for the Patriots, who pulled out a sweep of the Raiders on the road  Wednesday night.

Milton and Jay look to keep their momentum going while Pace and Central are seeking their first wins as week two of the high school football season is here.

Pace and Navarre competed in a meet with Gulf Breeze on Aug. 21 at the Pullum YMCA in Navarre.


The Raiders won the girls side of the meet while Pace placed third. In the boys meet, Pace prevailed and Navarre took third.

Makael Williams used to tell friends in middle school he was going to be a starter as a freshman on the varsity football team.


His statements proved true as Williams has been in the Patriots’ backfield the last two seasons.

Emma Messer returned to the volleyball court for the first time since her sophomore season, and, in some ways, it appeared as if she hadn’t missed a beat.


Her smile said it all in Milton’s preseason match with Central on Aug. 12, partly because the team won, but mostly because she was playing a sport she loves again.

After going 0-10 last year, the Milton Panthers wanted to start the 2025 football season on the right foot.


They did just that, defeating the Crestview Bulldogs 20-19 in a come-from-behind overtime victory on Friday night at Hurley Manning Field.
