As fog settled in over the field late Thursday night, Central head football coach Joe Surratt gathered his team together to talk after a 37-0 loss to Port St. Joe in the second round of the Florida Invitational Tournament.


The Jaguars’ best season in program history is officially over, but despite the ending, this team has a lot to be proud of after a memorable year.

The University of West Florida football team is postseason bound.

Heartbreaking doesn’t begin to describe the University of West Florida’s 47-44 overtime loss to Valdosta State Saturday night at PenAir Field.


Not when the loss cost the third-ranked Argos an unbeaten season as well as the Gulf South Conference championship.

Milton’s football team has enjoyed a turnaround season, but that special year came to an end Friday night with a 23-7 loss to Beachside in a Region 1-5A playoff opener.

Jay’s football team earned a playoff berth for the third consecutive season under head coach Brian Watson.


Unfortunately for the Royals, they also earned a first-round matchup with the undefeated Blountstown Tigers.

Earlier this week AJ Adkins’ basketball coach said he hopes he doesn’t see his senior standout in the gym until early December.


That, of course, would mean the Pace Patriots are playing for a state championship.

Pace Patriot soccer players had heard before their match against Gulf Breeze on Nov. 6 that they were going to get beat by the powerhouse Dolphins.


But the Patriots refused to let it happen and played the Dolphins to a 2-2 tie.

Late in the fourth quarter Thursday night, with this historic playoff game for the Central Jaguars hanging in the balance, Cade Scott walked the sideline encouraging his teammates to keep their heads up.


‘We still have the lead,’ Scott told his fellow Jaguars.
