Kirstyn Joiner is excited to be in her first season as the head coach of Milton’s softball team.

She isn’t a stranger to the sport. Joiner played down the road at Pace when she was in high school, helping the Patriots win a state title in 2007, and shined collegiately at the University of Mobile.

Mary Mancin and her Milton Panther girls soccer team rolled back into town from Jacksonville in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.

Their season was now over after an 8-0 loss to Stanton Tuesday night in the opening round of the Region 1-5A regional tournament.

An historic season for Milton’s girls weightlifting team ended with the best finish in the program’s history.

The Panthers finished third in the state at the FHSAA 2A meet Friday at the R. Marion Craig Coliseum in Port St. Joe.

Track work has been going on in preparation for the 2022 season which includes a 70-foot-wide trace for the entire three-eighths mile circuit. Crews have also worked very hard on problem spots as well as implementing progressive banking all the way around the track.

The Panthers led by 17 in the second half but soon saw that lead slip from their grasp in a 53-52 loss to the Raiders.
