This is the kind of stuff that TV movies are made of. Our previous county attorney, Roy Andrews, was fired in December 2020. Prior to his being fired, he told developers that it was A-OK to build an RV park on Navarre Beach even though the Navarre Beach Lease Agreement does not allow for an RV park. It wasn’t brought up for a vote – it just happened.

The saying goes, “You learn something new every day.” I have something worth sharing.  During World War II, with all it’s horrible statistics, Franklin Delano Roosevelt issued Bible New Testaments with metal covers, a blessing, as follows: To the Army, on the inside cover was our beloved American flag. On the next page FDR, by letter, admonished them to “Read the Bible.”

Ben Franklin did a lot of great things for this country. One of his bright ideas that I am not found of, and really hate to be honest, is daylight-saving time. Well, that’s not entirely true. I actually prefer daylight-saving time. What I don’t like is the switch back to standard time.

Before there was Sunshine Week, there was Sunshine Sunday. And here’s how Sunshine Sunday began. Just weeks after terrorist planes took down the World Trade Center and slammed into the Pentagon, legislators in Florida rushed to water down, even repeal, some of the state’s best-in-the-nation open government laws.

The other day, I watched “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” and more than 40 years later it remains an excellent movie on its own and is still the peak of Star Trek in my opinion. One thing I really paid attention to in this latest viewing of the movie is just how great some of the lines are and how they really have inspired me and have had a small part in forging me into the person I am today.

In this business, you see a lot of press releases come into your email inbox. A lot of them are very useful, about our communities and the people and events in them that we are happy to share.
