For God’s Sake: Encourage your pastor today
I am not even remotely mechanically inclined. It is for guys like me that cars used to come with what my mechanic friend called “the idiot light.”
Pointing to it, he said, “If this light comes on, you got trouble; come see me.” Did he just call me an idiot?

Out and About
Fall is officially here, although the 87-degree temperatures don’t convince me. The mornings are a little cooler, but when you are still in the upper 80s during the day, we will just keep waiting for the temperatures to catch up with the months they are supposed to be in.

Milton gets a do-over
Spring is normally a time for new beginnings, but Autumn 2023 is shaping up to be a critical time in the City of Milton’s history.
If all goes as expected, Scott Collins will start his tenure as city manager on Oct. 2, replacing Randy Jorgenson, who retired Sept. 5.

For God’s Sake: The sinless Christ died so that we could live because he is our Savior
I saw the movie “2001, A Space Odyssey” when it was first released in 1968.
In this story by Arthur C. Clarke, a crew of astronauts ventures into space to find the beings who planted a monolith on earth millennia earlier igniting the evolutionary process.

Indiana Hoosier football coach Tom Allen went and fired off a post-game rant earlier this month about how Friday night lights should be reserved for high school football and nothing else.

Dear commissioners: Please support the alternative subdivision provision
The Santa Rosa County Commission is expected to approve the revised Land Development Code at a special meeting Monday.
With that in mind, we’d like to share some observations about one of the recurring themes of the last few months’ debates: the alternative subdivision provision.

I feel like there is this image in the minds of some that NIL (name, image, likeness) is a bad thing for college sports.
And yes, let’s not bury our heads in the sand here. Scandals will emerge as a result of NIL.

For God’s Sake: Slowly, steadily, God has brought people to COMPASS
I had been a pastor for eight years before I enrolled in a seminary.
When I first met the seminary’s director of church planting, he said, “Have you ever given any thought to planting a church? You’d be good at it.”

Strong local newspapers create a strong community
The newspaper industry has been changing, or as we like to call it, evolving. Some newspapers have survived, and many haven’t. So how does a newspaper survive – thrive even?
We have some idea of what it takes. We have experienced growth even in the past year.

Out and About
There are some axioms that seem to hold true. If you wash your car, it will rain. If your food is running behind at the restaurant, just go to the bathroom and when you come back it will be waiting on you, and if you run a headline about how the dry weather is causing brush fires, it will rain for three days straight after it hits the newsstands.
