Navarre family finds kidney for son in dad

That’s how Austyn Evans describes knowing her two-year-old son, Conrad, now has a kidney after an agonizing search for a donor. Although the search took them from Northwest Florida to Texas and then to Georgia, the donor turned out to be closer to home (in fact, the donor lives in their home).

Santa Rosa County Clerk’s Office warns of phone scams
Phone scams are on the rise in the State of Florida. This is according to the Office of Inspector General, which has received reports from residents and former residents since April 4. The Santa Rosa County Clerk’s Office wants to make residents aware of this scam and how it is being perpetrated.

Ag commissioner commends Florida Forest Service for successful firebreak, preventing home destruction on Garcon Point
Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson is commending the Florida Forest Service (FFS) and its firefighters with the Blackwater Forestry Center for their quick work of a wildfire that occurred March 28, 2024, on Garcon Point. The mitigation efforts prior to this wildfire – which were funded by the 2022 Emergency Wildfire Management Fund – largely attributed to the containment of the fire, prevented home destruction, and saved lives.

Compromised vendor email leads to $852K theft
On Friday April 5, Santa Rosa County Clerk of Courts was notified that a recent payment to a vendor in the amount of $852,983.06 had been intercepted as a result of fraud. Upon notification The Clerk of Courts’ Finance Department issued a fraud alert to their bank.
