Gulf Coast Guns in legal battle over defaulted loan
Just before noon Tuesday, Feb. 25, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office executed a court order at Gulf Coast Guns in Milton. The order, which was issued by a Judge in Santa Rosa County, dealt with the seizing of items from the gun store.

Traffic shift planned for U.S. 90 Westbound lanes over Simpson River Bridge
The U.S. 90 westbound travel lanes over Simpson River Bridge will be shifted the week of Sunday, Feb. 23, to allow crews to complete bridge construction.
Signage will be in place to direct westbound drivers through the work zone. There are no changes to the eastbound bridge traffic pattern.

Milton Garden Club grows with knowledge
On Feb. 11 the Milton Garden Club celebrated Valentine’s Day early with a guest speaker who spoke on a matter close to their hearts, gardening tips and tricks.
John Todorovich is a teacher University of Florida and a master gardener with the school’s extension office known as the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). He spoke about understanding garden hazards and explained why they occur.

Milton City Council dismisses lawsuit against the mayor
The Milton City Council voted 5-3 in favor of dismissing the lawsuit against Mayor Heather Lindsay for violating the Freedom of Information Act.
The vote comes one day after the shade meeting between the city council and City Attorney Alex Andrade. The council had requested to have a closed meeting to discuss the ongoing lawsuit with Lindsay.

Land Development Task Force builder heavy
In what was touted to be a balance between so-called experts and citizens, the Santa Rosa County commissioners voted Feb. 13 to increase the number of seats at the task force table from 10 to 12 and include a handful of builders.
The commissioners previously agreed to collectively choose the experts portion of the panel and then designate a citizen from each of the five districts. Increasing the number of seats by two increased the experts panel by two, leaving the citizens’ representation at five.
