After several months of relative stability, Santa Rosa County is again facing staffing challenges, with three of its top employees resigning in the last few weeks.

James Cook, the interim head of Public Works, Chris Phillips, the head of Development Services, and Erica Grancagnolo, the associate director of the Economic Development agency have all resigned.

There aren’t many places left across America where you can purchase any hard-to-find hardware items, find unusual gifts, or pick up a jar of local honey, but Milton is home to one of them.

So today, as I was driving to work, I decided to share them both with you, too. Depending on how busy you are, these might be worth making a trip. One is about three hours away, while the other is less than two.

Mulat Road, west of Montecito Boulevard, will be closed on Tue., Feb. 1, and Wed., Feb. 2, while Florida Gulf and Atlantic Railroad, LLC works to rebuild two crossings. The road closure will impact Bernath Place and Bayside subdivisions as well as residents west of the double spur on Mulat Road.

“Anybody’s who’s come in contact with him knows how real his faith in Jesus was. I believe even though COVID may have taken his last breath, Jesus was right there to catch him. I know that he’s seeing things now that I long to see. My heart’s broke.”

Santa Rosa County School District has a few new leaders, ready to serve the students, the staff and the community.

“This is the most important job that I believe I as a superintendent have is to identify, recruit and retain great leaders for our school district,” Barber said. “And these leaders are going to help our employees, our teacher, our students to be successful, and so it just brings great pleasure to me.”

Earlier this month, VFW All-State Commander John Dixon saw a need and reached out to the Christian Life Church Service Team and the US Military Vets Motorcycle Club. Together, with VFW Post 4833 footing the bill, 15 volunteers spent a chilly morning making sure that one who served our nation well was served by the community he fought to protect.
