Milton foster home experiences a ‘God moment’ for the children
A “welcome” sign that was for sale started a series of events resulting in a Milton foster home getting a free, brand-new roof last week.
“I call these ‘God moments,’” said Liz Gibson, founder and president of For the Children of Milton, a not-for-profit corporation that owns and operates a foster-care facility at the end of Whitmire Road.

Mt. Pilgrim is a constant for Milton’s Black community
It’s impossible to discuss Milton’s history without mentioning – often – Mt. Pilgrim African Baptist Church.
Its congregation traces its history to antebellum times, when Blacks – many likely enslaved people working on a nearby plantation – and whites worshipped together at First Baptist Church (founded in 1845).

L.E.A.D. Academy to celebrate 10 years of providing faith-based classical education
Frank Lay and his daughter, Kace Browning, started L.E.A.D. Academy Classical School in 2013 with 25 students in a rented building on Berryhill Road.
This year, the school serves 565 students on its own 30-acre campus in Pace.
