Pace and Jay have combined for six state final four appearances in their respective softball classifications, and both teams have an opportunity to make another run at it this year.


They were on the same field Tuesday night, facing off in a game that will ultimately prove beneficial in the long run.

There’s a big-event kind of feel here on a chillier than usual March evening in Northwest Florida, but there seems to be no cooling off the Jaguars, who pick up a 3-0 win over West Florida Baptist to stay unbeaten.

The game was out of hand early. Central’s softball team scored nine runs in the first inning and rolled to a three-inning, 15-0 mercy-rule win over Lighthouse Private Christian Academy on Monday.

Lili Miller didn’t believe it at first. A school record broken? No way.

But then the senior leader of Central’s 4×8 relay team got the confirmation that she and her teammates had etched their name into school history with a 10:53.55, edging the old mark by less than a second.

Ethan McDonald buried back-to-back 3-pointers to help the East close the gap on the West in a highly competitive Pensacola Sports Association All-Star Game.

The Jay sharpshooter’s first 3-pointer trimmed the West lead to 93-88 at the 6:20 mark of the final half.

Jada Savage helped close the door on a victory for the East in the Pensacola Sports Association All-Star Game March 15 at the University of West Florida.

The Milton senior came up with a steal and converted it into a layup in the final minute of a 57-52 win.

Jay’s softball team is on a roll.


The Royals won their fifth consecutive game on Thursday with a 14-3 win over Paxton.

Milton’s boys lacrosse team has built some momentum in early March. The Panthers won their third consecutive game Wednesday, beating Concordia Lutheran out of Texas by a 9-4 score.

Kiiaana Gavere is in a much different position as a wrestler this year.

After missing out on making it to the FHSAA state tournament last season, the Pace sophomore came back strong and ended up fifth in the 140 lbs. weight class earlier this month.

Isaac Waters competed in one of the toughest weight classes in Florida this year.

Yet, the Pace senior found a way to be among the best when the season was all said and done, taking fifth at the FSHAA state tournament in the 190 lbs. weight class.
