Hurlburt Field – As the final seconds ticked away on the game clock, the crowd cheered, and teammates came off of the bench to congratulate one another. 

The Hurlburt Field Air Commandos basketball team had clinched yet another win with a 76-68 win over the Eglin Eagles on Jan. 10.

Up against the second-seeded Crestview Bulldogs, the Patriots closed within five going into the final quarter before falling 55-40 as their season came to an end.

Treymar Jones tossed up a 3-pointer in the third quarter of a District 1-6A quarterfinal against Navarre and turned away as he fired up the shot in the corner, feeling confident the ball was dropping in.
It did indeed swish through the net, the student section erupting in cheers, on a night when the Milton Panthers dominated the Raiders 71-32 as their bid for a championship repeat got underway.

Santa Rosa County represented well at FHSAA regional girls weightlifting meets on Saturday. Nine lifters won their respective weight classes in traditional at the Region 1-3A meet in Flagler Palm Coast while six won titles in Olympic. The county also had a lifter take first in the Region 1-1A meet in Wewahitchka.

Pace’s girls soccer team has been tested all year, and the semifinal round of the District 1-6A tournament at Ashton Brosnaham Park in Pensacola was no exception to that.
The Patriots were up against top-seeded Niceville, a traditional power, but didn’t back down from start to finish in a 3-1 loss that ended their season last Tuesday night.

The district basketball tournament brackets are set, with action getting underway next week.
Girls tournaments will run Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while the boys tournaments will take place Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
