Jay alum Caitlyn Gavin is one of 12 South Alabama softball players who has earned a little academic recognition.
Gavin has been tabbed a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athlete.

Milton alum Javier Valarezo is taking his talents to the college level.
Valarezo posted on social media that he is committing to John Melvin Christian College in Pace.
While there will be obstacles to overcome as a first-year varsity program, the most important thing for the Central Jaguars is they will play football in 2024.
“We’re going to go through the heartburn of what a new program looks like, but I’m excited about the season and the players we have, and they have a lot of ability,” head coach Joe Surratt said.
Jay’s football team is coming off its first winning season since 2018, and head coach Brian Watson believes his team will continue its upward trend.
“We talk about success and trying to sustain it, and we have to work hard to do it, but I think we are as talented and deep as we’ve ever been,” Watson said.
