Locals learn how to grow sugarcane

The UF/IFAS Santa Rosa County Master Gardeners hosted a demonstration on how to plant, harvest, and process sugarcane from home.
Residential Horticulture Agent Josh Criss hosted the class alongside Master Gardener and volunteer Francis Andrews. Together they shared their combined knowledge of how to have sugarcane become a part of your garden or landscaping.

The annual Creek Fest is a celebration of the Santa Rosa Band of Creek Indians, who were known for speaking the Muscogee Nation language. The Muscogee (Creek) Nation is one of the largest tribes in the United States. This year’s fest featured re-enactments, Muscogee stickball, arts and crafts vendors, and more.
