A 45-year-old man was arrested for drug trafficking and possession on Jan.8 by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office.

The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office released a statement the following morning detailing the arrest of Richard Parker. According to their statement, the Midnights District 4 team and two K-9’s intercepted 35.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 70 milliliters of a dangerous illicit substance.
Under Florida statutes the trafficking threshold for methamphetamine is possession of 14 grams or more constitutes trafficking. The 35.2 grams seized from Parker was more than double the classification threshold for trafficking.
According to the statement, the amount of methamphetamine found totals over 350 doses, with each dose capable of causing serious health consequences, including addiction and fatal overdoses. 70 milliliters of the illicit liquid represents enough toxicity to cause fatal overdoses in 35-40 individuals, particularly young or vulnerable users.
The substances will be submitted for evidence as the suspect awaits further investigation. He has been charged with six different counts, two misdemeanors for drug equipment and marijuana possession, and four felony charges for drug possession and trafficking.
