Attempted Milton drug deal goes awry

| Madison DeVito
On July 2, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7900 block of Kamie Court in Milton after reports of shots fired.

That afternoon, a sedan containing two adults and one juvenile from Pensacola traveled to a residence in the area to buy narcotics from Milton resident Noah Hoffman. During the encounter, Hoffman tried to rob the three individuals, and gunfire was exchanged in the street.

No one was struck by the gunfire, and the sedan carrying the trio fled from the scene of the incident. They were stopped shortly after by deputies in the parking lot of Piggly Wiggly on Highway 87. A firearm and spent shell casing were obtained from inside the vehicle, and deputies returned to the scene to secure it while they waited for a search warrant.

Hoffman surrendered to deputies after attempting to flee and encountering K-9 units and the sheriff’s office SWAT Team. He is currently being held without bond at the Santa Rosa County Jail. His pending charges include robbery with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm with a removed serial number, three counts of aggravated assault, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Other charges are being investigated for the trio involved in the incident.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office states there is no ongoing threat to the public.
