Three softball teams from the area are headed to the regional tournament.


Pace, Milton and Jay have all earned the right to play in the postseason, which begins May 7.

After beating Paxton 14-0 in the semifinal round of the Rural District 1 tournament, Jay faced off against Northview for the championship on Thursday but fell 7-0 to the Chiefs.

Kamryn Pierce wasn’t sure if the ball she hit hard and high in the air in the bottom of the fifth inning of a District 1-6A championship game on Thursday night was going to clear the fence.


She certainly hoped it would. But…

Jay’s boys weightlifting team made history last week, winning Region 1-1A titles in Olympic and Traditional lifting for the first time.

Pace’s flag football team made an effort to rally for a win in its Region 1-3A quarterfinal game against Niceville Wednesday night.

Pace’s softball team plays for a District 1-6A title tonight when it takes on Navarre at 6:30 p.m. in Pace.

Central’s softball team had its season end in the Rural District 1 tournament Monday night in Jay.

Jay’s softball team advanced to the Rural District 1 championship game with a 14-0 win run-rule win over Paxton Tuesday night.

The regional track meets are this week and Santa Rosa County will be well-represented. 

It’s been nearly a decade since Milton’s softball team has won at least 16 games in a season.


That kind of success is a big deal.
