Bees, and how they changed a Milton couple’s life
One local Milton resident picked up beekeeping as a hobby, now honeybees live in her backyard and her heart.
Honeybees are practically in Conni Carnley’s DNA. Her grandfather and aunt both had a history of beekeeping, and she has fond memories of visiting her aunt’s hive in her youth. But it was not until 2014 that she decided to pick up the hobby herself. Now she and her husband, Danny, manage 46 hives.

Grow your garden and support education
The University of Florida, IFAS and Pensacola State College Milton Campus is having its annual Spring Festival of Flowers on April 4, 5 & 6, 2025. Over one-hundred vendors selling plants from natives to ornamentals as well as various craft and food vendors. The event proceeds will be used for student scholarships, student field trips, and student computer lab needs at the University of Florida, IFAS Milton Programs.

Santa Rosa County Schools announces Defined Learning Contest Winners
On March 24, Santa Rosa County District Schools announced the Defined Learning Contest Winners. The district created a contest, in partnership with Defined Learning, to celebrate the incredible achievements of their talented educators and the inspiring project-based learning happening throughout the district. Submissions were completed throughout the months of January and February from educators around the district. Submissions were reviewed, and winners were determined by Defined Learning based on the project, student impact, and evidence provided. One submission from each grade band (pre-k/elementary, middle, and high) was selected.
