Milton shows gratitude for veterans
Members of surrounding communities gathered alongside Milton residents Thursday
to honor those who have served in the United States military.
Milton volleyball team heads to Final Four
Central School’s Girls Volleyball Team, the Lady Jags, left Friday for their first game of the Final Four for the state 1As. They are 1A regional champions. They will play Pierson at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pierson Middle/High School in Pierson, Florida. If they win that, they go to Fort Myers Wednesday to play the finals Thursday.
Their record is currently 17-10 and they are ranked #3 for 1A in the state.
Patriotic parade through Milton honors veterans
Red, white and blue beads, candy and even pocket-sized copies of the Constitution were handed out to spectators seated in lawn chairs at the Milton Veterans Day Parade Nov. 11.
New Milton council member appointed
The Milton City Council met Nov. 9 to appoint a replacement to fill the unexpired term of David Richardson, who resigned last month due to health issues. Under the requirements of the City Charter, the Council had 60 days to complete the appointment process.
Milton out-collects Pace in annual canned food drive
Milton High School was the winner in this year’s canned food drive, with students collecting 43,840 pounds of food. Pace High School students collected 20,980 pounds.
Divided commission approves development of Milton school
The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners approved a conditional use to allow the development of a school at the 6000 Block of Tanglewood Drive in Milton at a meeting Sept. 23.
Milton man shoots another man three times in domestic dispute
Christopher Slack, a 25-year-old Milton man, has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after shooting another man, Devin Johns, three times during a dispute in the middle of a residential street on Sept. 13.
School security mode lifted, no arrests yet in Milton shooting
District officials said schools in the vicinity of Julia Drive and Stewart Street in Milton were only in “security” mode briefly Monday morning following a shooting.
The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office responded to that area, according to a 12:19 p.m. press release. The victim was sent to a local hospital and suspects were in custody at the time of that release. Spokesman Rich Aloy said as of late Monday afternoon, no one had been charged.
Raider Game Day: Navarre hits road for battle with Milton
After an unplanned bye week, Navarre’s football team is set to return to the field Friday night when it takes on county rival Milton on the road in a 7:30 p.m. game.
The Raiders (1-0) were off last week after Warren Easton out of New Orleans was forced to cancel its trip over to Navarre due to Hurricane Ida.
Milton Riverwalk Park discussions continue
With the Board of County Commissioners and Santa Rosa Tourist Development Council behind the City of Milton’s vision, a new Milton Riverwalk Park may begin.
