Two Pace track and field standouts headed to college level
Henderson and Kanis were both state qualifiers this past season and are the latest from the Patriot track program to get the opportunity to compete at the next level.
Henderson made it to the 4A state meet in the discus while Kanis got to state in the pole vault. Both earned top 10 finishes in their respective events at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville back in May.
Henderson finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 139-feet-3 inches while Kanis reached a height of 10-4 to place 10th.
The two are among the top athletes in program history at Pace, with both holding school records in their respective events, and are following in the footsteps of other former Patriots who have gone on to compete at South Alabama.
In fact, Pace will have three athletes on the track roster next season as 2023 javelin state champion Ava Grace Wheaton just completed her freshman season with the Jaguars this past spring.
