Tyler Welch among coaches added to UWF hoops staff

The University of West Florida men’s basketball team has added two coaches to its staff for the 2023-24 season.
Former Navarre hoops assistant and Raider alum Tyler Welch is joining the staff along with Justin Mann, a former head coach at Independence Community College in Kansas.

Pensacola Ice Flyers name new head coach

Gary Graham is the new head coach of the Pensacola Ice Flyers.
He’s no stranger to the city or the team, having coached them to their first SPHL championship in franchise history in 2013. He replaces Rod Aldoff.
NFL legend Derrick Brooks hosting golf tourney

Former NFL star Derrick Brooks is hosting a golf tournament at the Pensacola Country Club Aug. 14.
The 11-time Pro Bowler who helped the Tampa Bay Bucs win a Super Bowl in 2003 is hosting the tournament in an effort to raise money for Derrick Brooks Charities of Northwest Florida.
Blue Wahoos hosting summer celebration

The Blue Wahoos are hosting a summer celebration July 3 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola.
General admission is $5, though there is a VIP ticket available for the Hancock Whitney Club in the stadium, and it includes a full buffet, drinks, dessert and a cash bar.
Myers named Southern League Player of week

Pensacola Blue Wahoos outfielder Dane Myers has been named the Southern League Player of the Week.
He went 10-for-25 last week in a series against Biloxi, hitting three home runs and driving in 10 runs.

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos edged Biloxi 3-2 Wednesday in Mississippi.
Down 4-3 in the eighth, Will Banfield put the Blue Wahoos back in business with a game-tying home run. Norel Gonzalez then hit a homer to put Pensacola ahead for good.
