It’s district tournament time for area volleyball teams.

Things get started Monday with a pair of games as Milton (8-16) travels to Tate (17-7) in the District 1-6A tourney while Central plays host to Laurel Hill in District 1-1A play.

Navarre and Pace finished first and second, respectively, in the overall standings at the Santa Rosa County Swim Meet Thursday at the Pullum YMCA.  Milton took fourth.

The meet took place on a chilly and sometimes rainy afternoon, with swimmers huddling up in an effort to stay warm, wearing blankets and jackets, but there was also plenty of energy as they cheered on their teammates in a tightly contested meet.

Pace heads to Cantonment for a big game against Tate Friday that headlines week seven of the high school football season for teams in Santa Rosa County.

The Patriots take on the Aggies in a pivotal District 1-4S showdown. Pace is 1-0 in district play. Tate is 1-1.

Pace’s Josephine Harris didn’t have her best day at the state swim meet a year ago. She finished 23rd overall out of 24 swimmers, recording a time of 1:03.26.

It wasn’t an easy night for the Jay Royals facing the top team in their region.

Up against Holmes County, the fifth-ranked 1A team in the state and the Region 1-1R leader, the Royals had no answer in a 55-14 loss to the Blue Devils.
