The final week of the regular season is here and while Milton gets set to wrap up its 2023 campaign, Jay and Pace seem poised to play in the postseason.

Pace’s boys golf team finished fifth at the Region 1-3A tournament last Tuesday at the St. John’s Golf Club in St. Augustine. Pace came through with a team score of 312.

Area swimmers hit the pool at the Morcom Aquatic Center in Tallahassee on Halloween for the Region 1-3A meet.

Milton’s Gabi Wright capped her high school golf career with a strong showing at the Region 1-3A tournament last Monday at Hawkstone Golf and Country Club in Gainesville.

Wright came through with an 81 in what was her fourth consecutive appearance at a regional tournament.

Jacob Delgado had the best finish among area teams competing at the District 1-1A cross-country meet last Monday at St. Joseph’s Bay Country Club in Port St. Joe.

Delgado finished 10th in a time of 18:17.84. L.E.A.D. Academy finishes seventh as a team. Jay was sixth.

Milton’s cross-country teams competed at the District 1-3A meet last Wednesday morning at Twin Oaks Park in Fort Walton Beach.

The Panther boys were seventh overall, with Christian Clement leading the way with a time of 18:41.60, good enough for 44th.

Peewee Jarrett sat at a table before the start of a postgame press conference and was looking down. It was obvious a 31-28 loss to Valdosta State cut deep on the final Saturday of October at Pen Air Field.

The latest FHSAA regional rankings are out and three area teams find themselves in contention to make the postseason.

Navarre and Pace remain ranked in the top eight in the Region 1-4S while Jay is in the top six in Region 1-1R.

Milton grad Paige Phillips has been named the Region 8 Player of the Year after a successful first season with the start-up Pensacola State women’s soccer team.
