Drivers in Santa Rosa County will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads as crews perform construction and maintenance activities. In preparation for the Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend, there will be no lane closures or other activities that impede traffic on major state roads beginning at 12 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 and ending at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30.

A fatality occurred on Old Bagdad Highway on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 20.

Santa Rosa County officials say they’ve been made aware of a continued fraudulent email scam targeting individuals and businesses claiming to be from the planning and zoning department.

Dalton Wallace, 30, was arrested Nov. 9 for withholding support, intimidation, two counts of battery, obstructing justice, resisting an officer, burglary and attempted homicide.

Santa Rosa Board of County Commissioners voted for their new Chair and Vice Chair of the board at their Nov. 13 meeting. Commissioner Colten Wright (District 5) will be the board’s new chair, while Commissioner Ray Eddington (District 4) will be the new vice chair.
