Mayor Heather Lindsay was back for Tuesday’s Milton City Council meeting, her first in months after she was out on FMLA leave, and it led to some tense moments. Lindsay is currently being sued by the city for not turning over public records.

A unanimous vote from the Milton City Council Tuesday approved annexing three properties on Munson Highway into the city limits, greenlighting a new RV park.

Volunteer Santa Rosa Day is an opportunity to learn about the volunteer organizations that support Santa Rosa County. This year’s event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at Benny Russell Park, 5417 W Spencer Field Road in Pace. Various organizations will showcase what their organizations do for the Santa Rosa community and be available for demonstrations. Food will be available, as well as activities for kids.

The Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners, the city of Milton and NAS Whiting Field signed an intergovernmental agreement on June 13 that will allow the two local governments to provides services to the military.

There was a significant shake-up in Santa Rosa District Schools in June.

At the June 13 school board meeting, the district appointed seven people to new positions at schools throughout the district, including four principals at Holley Navarre Primary School, Avalon Middle School, East Milton Elementary School and Gulf Breeze Elementary School.

The Milton City Council voted 4-3 Tuesday in favor of a 65-day extension for the Panhandle Butterfly House and Nature Center’s stormwater management plan.

Milton Mayor Heather Lindsay said she has considered resigning from her position but has no plans to do so until at least November, despite the impact the position has had on her health amid an open records lawsuit ongoing against her.
