Governor visits, announces $3.4 million funding to support military missions
Governor Ron DeSantis announced Sept. 15 in a Milton press conference that Santa Rosa, Escambia and Okaloosa counties will receive $3.4 million in grant funding from the Department of Economic Opportunity.
“We appreciate having great installations and a great active-duty footprint, and of course NWF is one of the strongest military communities in the nation – we understand that enriches our community and our economy,” DeSantis said at the conference.
School security mode lifted, no arrests yet in Milton shooting
District officials said schools in the vicinity of Julia Drive and Stewart Street in Milton were only in “security” mode briefly Monday morning following a shooting.
The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office responded to that area, according to a 12:19 p.m. press release. The victim was sent to a local hospital and suspects were in custody at the time of that release. Spokesman Rich Aloy said as of late Monday afternoon, no one had been charged.
