A Milton man and former preacher is in Santa Rosa County Jail for illicit sexual acts with minors. Jason Robert Moore, 42, of the 1100 block of Adrian Way in Milton, was arrested by agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations following an investigation involving child sex abuse.

At first, Robert Ballard wasn’t sure what to think when he saw people milling around in the street near his home in Pace. Ballard, his wife and two children were just arriving home Dec. 1 on a chilly evening near sundown.

A Milton woman may have stabbed another woman last month because of jealousy. According to a Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office report, Monique Marie Garner, 32, of Milton, unlawfully entered a home in Pace on Nov. 19 and stabbed her former girlfriend’s new girlfriend in the groin.

Sean Dietrich, better known as “Sean of the South,” is coming to Imogene Theatre in Milton for an event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida. The event will take place Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. Dietrich is a columnist, novelist, and storyteller known for his commentary on life in the American South. According to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida, the event, titled “An Evening with Sean of the South,” will consist of storytelling and music from Dietrich and special guests.

Milton City Manager Randy Jorgenson is looking for someone qualified to oversee completion of a $70-million wastewater treatment plant. A request for proposals issued in September received no response; when that happens, city policy allows the city council to authorize the city manager to seek products or services “by other means.”
