Fentanyl, weapons seized on Pine Ridge Drive in Milton

The Aug. 22 serving of a search warrant in Milton uncovered approximately 3,500 pills of fentanyl. According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, 3,500 pills of fentanyl with a street value upwards of $40,000.

A funeral service will be conducted beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at First Baptist Church of Milton, 6797 Caroline St., with burial to follow at Milton Keyser Cemetery.

A major storm event in April 2014 resulted in 24 inches of rain in an eight-hour time frame, causing widespread flooding and many erosion problems on private lands in Santa Rosa County. A major problem that occurred during this storm was the formation of a large gully on the property owned by Jimmy Andajaur and Kari Brock in north-central Santa Rosa County. Overnight, a gully approximately 30 feet deep, 50 feet wide, and over a quarter mile long formed.

SRCAS hosting Community Cat Days Aug. 22 and 23

Santa Rosa County Animal Services is hosting Community Cat Days for Santa Rosa County residents Tuesday, Aug. 22, and Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Santa Rosa County Animal Shelter, 4451 Pine Forest Road in Milton. Up to 30 stray/feral cats will be accepted for free spay and neutering through community cats program funding.
Milton council votes 5-3 to fire City Clerk Dawn Molinero

The Milton City Council voted 5-3 Tuesday, Aug. 8, to terminate City Clerk Dawn Molinero on the recommendation of City Attorney Alex Andrade.
Andrade based his recommendation on his investigation of a personnel complaint filed Aug. 1 by Economic Development Director Ed Spears, who alleged that Molinero violated city policies and created a hostile work environment.
Jorgenson attends last Milton council meeting as city manager

Randy Jorgenson attended his last Milton City Council meeting as city manager on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
He’ll be in Georgia to see his son graduate U.S. Army basic training on Aug. 17, when the council’s next meeting is scheduled. The council’s next meeting is Sept. 5, the day Jorgenson’s retirement begins.
Backpacks for Hope help students prepare for school, learn about IBC’s mission

Florida Power and Light donates $20,000 to support National Naval Aviation Museum’s new homeschool program

The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation (NAMF) is delighted to announce a recent contribution of $20,000 from Florida Power and Light Company (FPL) towards the museum’s new Homeschool Academy. The check presentation ceremony took place on the base Friday morning, Aug.11.
Homeschool Academy: The Museum Classroom was initiated by NAMF in January 2023, with a focus on families homeschooling children aged 5 to 18. FPL’s generous grant will enable NAMF to extend the program’s reach throughout the entire school year, benefiting the homeschooling community.
