Voters choose change for Milton and Santa Rosa County
Election season is over – for a minute – and the politicians, politicos, media and social media savants are busy weighing the results.
Locally – where people and their government most often interact – the 2022 election results could usher in dramatic change on both the Santa Rosa County Commission and the Milton City Council.
Dear People, who want a sewage treatment plant on Cooper’s Basin:
My name is Peggy Allen Tripp Turman, I am 83 years old and in the autumn of my life. God has blessed me with a good mind as to date.
I have a concern about the Blackwater River I have resided on since 1966.
What might the future hold for Milton’s OLD wastewater treatment site?
The debate about where to put Milton’s new wastewater treatment plant rages on, if not in the minds of City Manager Randy Jorgenson and staff, then in the minds of some residents and area environmentalists.
But a proposal by Councilman Robert Leek raised new questions. While everyone’s attention has been on where to put the new facility, we haven’t heard much about plans for the old plant site.
Antisemitic Holocaust denial by Iranian president
Did you know the Iranian President commented on the Holocaust at a “CBS 60 Minutes” interview recently? Israelis rightfully outcried!

She was taking a shower like any other day. She wasn’t examining herself, she just felt it. She immediately burst into to tears because in some ways, this was the day she had been dreading since 1995.
Let’s be Clear: Vote NO on Amendment 2!
When a long-time liberal Democrat and a former conservative Florida State Senator agree on a major ballot issue, you should pay attention. This election we will choose a governor, senator, congressmembers and legislators.
We will also be asked to severely weaken our power as citizens to amend our state’s Constitution. Ballot Amendment 2 would eliminate the Constitution Revision Commission (CRC), a once-every-twenty-year citizen’s commission with the ability to put forward Constitutional Amendments on the Ballot.
Attention: You do not have a ‘right’ to be heard at public meetings
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Minnesota State Board for Community Colleges v. Knight (1984) that “The Constitution does not grant to members of the public generally a right to be heard by public bodies making decisions of policy.”
National Newspaper Week:
Caller highlights local papers’ importance
Earlier this week, a Milton resident called the Santa Rosa’s Press Gazette offices. She was trying to decide whether to renew her subscription and had a few questions about her local newspaper.
