Collins said ‘no thank you’
Scott Collins, the Milton city manager candidate who stood head and shoulders above the rest, said no thank you to the job offer. There was no counteroffer, there was no real negotiation. It was a plain and simple – no.
Commissioners should approve Jubilee
It’s the most resilient project ever in Santa Rosa County and it has been in the making for 20 years.
If you ask yourself why the developers of Jubilee don’t give up it is because it is a project that could change the economic landscape of Pace and it a property they have invested in for 20 years.
Calkins brings the circus to town
The last few weeks of the Santa Rosa County Commissioners meetings have been quite the expletive-filled circus, thanks to the District 2 commissioner, James Calkins.
While being chastised by citizens and commissioners alike, he continues to grin, laugh and even double down on his comments. His remarks have angered people to the point of cursing at the podium during public forum.
Calkins should resign his commissioner’s seat
James Calkins is not new to making controversial statements, but last week at a Board of County Commission meeting, he crossed a line.
He openly refused to apologize and in fact, to the shock of the audience, doubled down on his words.
Prepare now for Hurricane Season
Today is the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season.
Forecasters are finding this year’s hurricane season hard to predict. They have said the current warmer ocean temperatures would normally be expected to increase tropical storm and hurricane activity, but we also have an El Nino event brewing, which usually has the opposite effect.
Disaffiliation was right move
About the Methodist disaffiliation from UMC churches, thank God they had guts enough to take a stand to proclaim, without fear, on issues diametrically opposed to the God-given Bible. God loves everybody involved, countrywide, but cannot abide the reasons for the split!
Congratulations class of 2023
Our high school seniors are about to celebrate a huge accomplishment in their life and dip their toe into the adult end of the life pool.
We are excited for you as you realize your whole life is ahead of you. You have barely begun to scratch the surface of what you can accomplish. The past twelve years have all been for this moment – mostly.
‘Bullying is not acceptable’
Every year, sometimes more often, we take a look at youth suicide. The future belongs to our children, and we want to watch them grow and thrive.
We at the Navarre Press take youth suicide very seriously.
‘Sam Parker Parkway’ has a nice ring to it
For years now, a loud subset of Santa Rosa County residents has blasted the Board of County Commissioners – rightfully, we think – for its lack of foresight, especially its failure to ensure infrastructure is sufficient to meet the needs of new development.
Never too soon: Commissioners need bridge funding plan
When Santa Rosa County accepted ownership of Navarre Beach Bridge in 2004, it expected to replace the bridge in as few as 10 years. Almost 20 years later, we’re still using the 63-year-old bridge.
Not to worry; Florida Department of Transportation bridge inspectors tell us the span is structurally sound.
