Daniel Hahn, the former director of school safety for Santa Rosa County District Schools, has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge. He was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the homicide of Danika Troy, 14, who was reported as a runaway Monday, Dec. 1. Troy’s body was found the following day and Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it was Troy Dec. 3.

Three former Emerald Coast Lawns employees were recently on trial for possession and use of fraudulent employment documents. Two of the men also pleaded guilty to illegal reentry by a removed alien.

Alfredo Mendoza Montero, 45, of Mexico, was sentenced to two years and one day in federal prison after having pleaded guilty to charges of passport fraud, false impersonation of a citizen, and aggravated identity theft. The sentence was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

An employee with a food vendor serving Santa Rosa students has been arrested on indecent exposure.

A 47-year-old Milton man was arrested for the shooting death of a 41 year old woman at a residence in the Milton area Friday evening, Aug. 1. Curtis Marvin Johnson, 47, is charged with homicide. In his arrest report, the charge is de-scribed as “murder dangerous depraved without premeditation.”

Jimmy Forrest Robinson III was indicted July 29 for First Degree Murder by Illegal Distribution of Controlled Substances by State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden’s Office.
March 14, 2025
On Thursday, March 13, Toby James White, who was apprehended by law enforcement Jan. 25 for second degree murder, was found dead in his cell at Santa Rosa County Jail.

After a two monthlong investigation, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two county residents for child abuse and neglect. Jesse Allen Smith, 29, of Jay, is charged with cruelty toward a child, which is described as aggravated child abuse. Jordan Chase Moore, 28, of Pace, is charged with child neglect with great bodily harm. At the time of the arrests, the two were involved in a relationship.
