City of Milton releases Bands on the Blackwater schedule
The City of Milton has released its Bands on the Blackwater schedule. Bands on the Blackwater will present free, live music along Blackwater River every Friday night from August 29 to October 24, 7-9 p.m.
Homeowners and city meet again: Locklin Lake dredging raises concern
In May, the Milton City Council approved phase one of the Locklin Lake restoration project focused on dredging the lake. Residents made rampant vegetative growth concerns with the project clear at a July 16 homeowner’s association meeting, held in conjunction with the City of Milton.
Commissioner Kerry Smith pushes to remove zoning board member
Within the first half hour of the Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners meeting, Chairman Kerry Smith made clear he wanted to remove a member of the zoning board.
The member in question is Commissioner Ray Eddington’s District 4 representative, Gene Sullivan. Smith accused Sullivan of getting into a verbal altercation with a zoning applicant following the special zoning meeting of May 22.

County making plans to lease Whittle Building
The Florida Department of Transportation expects eventually to buy and tear down the Whittle Building to make room to expand U.S. Highway 90 through Milton, Santa Rosa County Commissioner Dave Piech reaffirmed Monday.
In the meantime, the county is preparing to lease the vacant, dilapidated former automobile dealership and records warehouse.
