Sometimes you get reminders that Disney is right. It really is a small world.
Matt Painter coached his Purdue basketball team to the Final Four earlier this month, marking the first time the Boilermakers have reached that point in the tourney since 1980.

Colleges aren’t supposed to have “closed for business” signs posted on their doors.
But, here we are with the news of another institution of higher learning, Birmingham-Southern, announcing it will close for good at the end of this school year.

I learned last week that a picture of goalposts can sometimes attract a lot of attention.
While over at Central for a track interview, I thought it was cool the goalposts were finally up at the football field. So, I did the 21st century thing, taking a picture and posting it on social media.

There is some great softball in this area. Pace and Jay tend to lead the way in Santa Rosa County.

It’s been nothing short of an honor being a sportswriter for the Navarre Press and Press Gazette. But now I have bigger dreams to fulfill.
Last Tuesday morning, in my potential spam direct message folder on social media, I received an invitation to participate in the 2024 National Combine Series, opening the door for the possibility to play in the US Army Bowl at a later date.

This just in. We are past the point of ‘that would never happen in sports.’ Way past it.
In fact, I can’t even tell you the date of when it officially happened. But we are there, and no way does it ever trend in the other direction again. It would take a miracle for it to happen.

Milton’s boys basketball team was up 10 points early in the second quarter of a regional basketball quarterfinal on the road, and you couldn’t help but start to believe that maybe the dream of an upset win over the No. 1 seed was going to come true.

Nothing against the American Flag, but Santa Rosa County needs to throw the idea of the largest flag in the state idea as some kind of tourist attraction right out the window and forget that the thought even entered its brain in the first place.

It happens every year. Student athletes and their family and friends fill cafeterias, gymnasiums, media centers, and sometimes even offsite locations, to sign national letters of intent.
It happened again last Wednesday, here in Santa Rosa County, throughout the state and across the country.

Pace’s girls soccer team wanted a District 1-6A tournament championship this season. A year after settling for runner-up honors, the Patriots were determined to finish the job this time around.
It was their mission this season, and they nearly pulled it off. They battled rival Navarre tough on the final Tuesday night of January at the Ashton Brosnaham Complex in Pensacola in the District 1-6A final.
