A year ago, a new adventure began with covering sports in this area. Our company bought the Press Gazette, and I’ll admit that I had my concerns about the extra responsibility and work that was now staring back at me.

Cold rain and chilly air made things less than ideal for the first ever NCAA Division II playoff game at Pen Air Field on the University of West Florida campus two weeks ago. But the result the Argos were able to get here a on miserable mid-November afternoon more than made up for the weather.

Give credit to Pace’s football team. Not much was expected of the Patriots when the season began. Especially after going just 4-6 the previous year. Yet, through hard work, a ton of heart and a will to battle through any sort of adversity, the Patriots found themselves still playing football during the second weekend of November.

Dear FHSAA, I know my birthday is still four months away and it’s not quite Christmas yet — even if the stores want us to believe it is – but if you don’t mind, I have a request. And then he realizes it’s just the goalposts that were carried out of Neyland Stadium and into the night by jubilant fans on the third Saturday of October.
