Three new MSBUs
While the last meeting included two Municipal Service Taxing Units and one Municipal Services Benefit Unit, this meeting will include three new MSBUs. All three public hearings for these units will be held at the beginning of the meeting. The MSBUs are:
- The establishment of an MSBU for street lighting services for the Blossom Grove and Liberty Farms subdivisions.
- The establishment of an MSBU for stormwater drainage repair, improvements, and paving for Fairways at Tiger Point East Subdivision.
- The establishment of an MSBU for road paving at the Forestwood Drive development.
MSBU rates and budget amendments
The board has several other agenda items with the Office of Management and Budget, but the first one on the list is the tentative rate resolution for MSBUs. The rates will be increased for the street lighting MSBUs and for fire protection to better fund the fire districts throughout the county, which was addressed at the June 9 meeting.
The new, assessed, or raised rates are:
- Blossom Grove Street Lighting MSBU (District 3): $65 per lot
- Liberty Farms Street Lighting MSBU (District 2): $65 per lot
- Fairways at Tiger Point East Stormwater Drainage and Paving Improvements MSBU (District 5): $380 per lot
- Forestwood Drive Road Paving MSBU (District 3): $1,287 per parcel or $1,042 per building
- North Stormwater Maintenance MSBU (District 1, 2 & 3) – $60 per parcel
- South Stormwater Maintenance MSBU (District 4 & 5) – $75 per parcel
Fire Protection:
- Residential Tier 1: $140
- Residential Tier 2: $210
- Commercial: $0.0422 per sq. ft./$114 min
- Vacant: $18
Amateur radio proclamation
The board will proclaim the week of June 23-29, 2025, as Amateur Radio Week to celebrate the value of amateur radio operators.
The proclamation references the operators’ value to the community. They provide public assistance with free radio communications, serving as weather spotters for the National Weather Service, and support emergency managers during and after a disaster among other things.
