The first burn is north of I-10, east of Avalon Boulevard, and is 260 acres – highlighted in yellow on the first map. The second is on a 30-acre island in the Blackwater River.
These burns will only take place under optimal conditions.
Residents and motorists in the area might see smoke from the burns, but they are expected to be completed by early afternoon.
