At around 7 a.m. this morning, Nov. 20, Santa Rosa County Emergency Management announced that Old Bagdad Highway was closed between Galt City Road and Parkmore Plaza due to the investigation of a fatality. About two hours later, the road reopened, and Florida Highway Patrol sent out the following update regarding the incident later in the day:
“A possible red SUV was traveling eastbound on Old Bagdad Highway and was approaching Rice Road. An unidentified female pedestrian was walking along the southern shoulder of Old Bagdad Highway. The vehicle struck the female near the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle then fled the scene. The female was pronounced deceased on-scene by emergency personnel. FHP investigators are continuing to investigate this fatal traffic crash.”
